Mission and Vision
Wisdom and Knowledge
Wisdom and knowledge must exist alongside each other. Teaching fails us when it dumps information into us without anything meaningful to connect it to. Wisdom is what excites our curious minds and allows us to discover on our own however we need background information and access to text and stories in order to deepen and enrich our experiences. Road School America seeks to provide information to naturally enriching experiences.
Place Based Learning
The heart of Road School America is at the application of academics to an already intriguing place. We reveal the opportunities for language, math, science and history lessons in the world around us. Scholars who participate regularly with this curriculum will being to see patterns among places, people and timelines that show up again and again in order to naturally develop a big-picture world view.
Social Justice and Honesty
Road School America recognizes that what is taught is selected. We are committed towards teaching a secular, truthful history that is centered on social justice. The perspectives shared in the history lessons are designed to have scholars think critically about different perspectives and what could have/should have been done differently. Social conflicts and controversary is not blinded within this curriculum and parents are instead invited into these topics to explore them openly with their children at the level they gauge to be most appropriate.
